SeeqPod is a music player, search engine and music blog that is set up to deliver musical entertainment to its users. It offers free music streaming and music downloads, as well as links to music videos.
SeeqPod’s music service is interesting and compelling. The site’s unique technology enables users to stream music from a wide variety of sources without downloading them.
Streaming is protected fair use under the Digital Millennial Copyright Act, says SeeqPod. But the company’s legal position is uncertain. On January 18, Warner Music Group filed a suit against SeeqPod in Los Angeles.
The lawsuit claims that SeeqPod uses songs to build its user base. WMG also claims that the music is used to sell ads.
Imeem is designed to create playlists of any sort
Imeem is a social networking site designed to help users find music they like. It was founded in 2003 by Dalton Caldwell, Jan Jannink, and a group of investors and musicians. Since then, imeem has expanded to include offices in San Francisco’s South of Market district and Los Angeles. Eventually, it was acquired by MySpace. Although MySpace stopped blocking the site in 2008, imeem content was removed from the site. Until this point, the site was a hit with MySpace users.
In September 2006, imeem rolled out its first embeddable Adobe Flash-based playlists. These widgets allowed users to customize their profiles with music. This included a handy music player for streaming.
MP3 tunes online are legal copies of songs
If you have been surfing the web for a while you have probably come across a handful of websites that offer to sell you an MP3 tune. Most of these services charge a minimal fee per song and allow you to download the songs to your computer or to burn them onto CDs. In the past these services have been restricted to iTunes, but that is no longer the case.
For one thing, MP3s are copyrighted, unless the song is in the public domain. However, downloading a music track from a website without permission may be illegal. You can also get into trouble for e-mailing or posting a copyrighted song.

Grooveshark is a web-based music application that allows users to share their music with friends. Users can search for songs by artist, album, genre, or song. They can also save songs to their playlists. It’s free to join, but you can pay for a more robust service if you’re looking to get more out of the site.
Like Pandora and Rdio, Grooveshark offers a streaming service. However, the company has run into trouble with copyright issues. Several record labels have filed lawsuits against it, including Universal Music Group, EMI Music Publishing, and Sony Music Entertainment.
In addition to the legal problems, the company faces a potential $736 million fine for allegedly sharing 5,000 tracks without permission. It has since taken steps to eliminate such infringing content.
